Campaign against Climate Change is having demonstrations this weekend to promote taking the train and not the plane

The Campaign against Climate Change are carrying out demonstrations this Saturday, 4th September in London and Manchester to promote getting the train rather than plane for short-haul journeys.

The promoters will travel by train to get from London's City airport to Manchester airport to continue the demonstrations.

The protest is starting at 11am outside the entrance of City airport and will be continuing at 4pm at Terminal 3 of Manchester airport.

Phil Thornhill, the national coordinator of Campaign against Climate Change explains:

"We can start to get to grips with the growth in aviation by eliminating the shorter journeys that can be made in other, less carbon-intensive, ways. This is the time to show we’re getting serious with aviation, serious with unnecessary high emissions, serious with climate change – serious, in other words, with the greatest threat facing humanity.”
