Oct 21, 2011
The Energy Saving Trust and Good Energy suggest ways of taking control of your energy this Energy Saving Week.

This Monday marks the start of the fifteenth Energy Saving Week.

This year the focus is on how you can take back control of your spiralling energy bills at home. From top tips to competitions, Energy Saving Week will guide you through the best ways to save.

This year’s Energy Saving Week has five themed days:

Monday – Launch day!

Tuesday – Microgeneration (learn all about renewable technologies)

Wednesday – Energy Saving Trust Recommended day

Thursday – Energy Efficiency in your home

Friday – Transport day

Good Energy suggests joining thousands of people who are protecting themselves from price hikes by taking control of their energy and earning money from the Feed-in Tariff by generating their own electricity.

A review consultation of the scheme is due any day and all the signs say the Government will reduce Feed-in Tariff payments on April 1st 2012. So if you’ve been thinking about installing solar panels the time to do it is now. For more information visit goodenergy.co.uk/generate

To celebrate Energy Saving Week, Good Energy will be taking part in a seven-day Green Kitchen Challenge and will be running a blog filled with tips, tales and info on how to make your bills lighter for your pocket and the planet.

Good Energy is also offering £50 off your first bill if you switch between Monday 24 October and Monday 31 October and quote 'ESW11.' Alternatively, if you are with Good Energy and you encourage a green-minded friend to switch you'll both get £50 off your bills if you recommend them this week and they switch before the end of December.
