PEA Business Awards 2012 Announces New Judges and Lloyds TSB Commercial as Headline Sponsor
The organisers behind the People and Environment Achievement Business Awards 2012, which will seek to champion the individuals within corporations who demonstrate exceptional leadership and vision in implementing Britain’s ‘greenest’ business initiatives, have confirmed that entrepreneur and star of BBC2’s Dragons’ Den, Deborah Meaden has joined the impressive judging panel for the 2012 Awards.

With a passion for charitable and environmental causes, Deborah currently sits on the Board of the Roundhouse (a North London arts centre), is an ambassador for Lend with Care, a patron of Tusk Trust, a Fellow with the RSA, an ambassador for WWF, a trustee for the Design Council and has recently become an ambassador for WorldSkills London 2011.
Deborah says, ‘As an active and passionate supporter of environmental initiatives I’m delighted to be a judge of the inaugural People and Environmental Achievement Business Awards. We are looking for the role models of the future, those who will show the direction of travel for creating sustainable businesses.’
The PEA Business Awards judging panel for 2012 will be chaired by Leo Johnson (Head of Sustainability at PricewaterhouseCoopers) and also includes Jo Wood (TV personality and organic entrepreneur), Josephine Fairley (co-founder of Green & Black’s), Alex Lambie (founder of Green Helpline) and Tony Juniper (environmental campaigner, author and editor-in-chief of Green magazine).
Deborah will join the rest of the judging panel to review all received nominations in December 2011 and draw up a shortlist. Finalists will be invited to attend a prize ceremony hosted by Liz Bonnin, presenter of the BBC’s Bang Goes the Theory at The Orangery at Kensington Palace on January 25th 2012.
Organisers of the PEA Business Awards are also delighted to announce Lloyds TSB Commercial as headline sponsor of the inaugural awards ceremony. “This represents a real vote of confidence, having such a well-recognised, multinational corporation showing its support for what we are trying to achieve with the PEA Business Awards,” says organiser Jarvis Smith.

With a strong belief that there is an important role to play in facilitating and financing the transition to a low-carbon, resource-efficient economy, Lloyds TSB Commercial’s headline sponsorship has given a real boost to the awards. Lloyds TSB Commercial’s ultimate vision is to be recognised as a leading UK bank on environmental issues, and in order to achieve this, it proactively identifies opportunities to collaborate with external partners to drive positive environmental change.
Despite this being the inaugural PEA Business Awards, the objectives behind them were sufficient to convince Lloyds TSB Commercial to include the awards amongst its list of external partners. In addition to this, Lloyds TSB Commercial will publicise the PEA Business Awards within its weekly internal news publication, distributed to approximately 1000 customer relationship managers across Commercial and Corporate teams. The bank will also profile the awards at 2012 sustainability themed Commercial Charter Events and locally organised customer networking events.
Lloyds spokesperson comments, ‘We are delighted to be supporting the first PEA Business Awards and look forward to hearing about some of the amazing initiatives that individuals and teams are involved in to drive towards a low carbon, more resource efficient economy. By recognising and rewarding examples of environmental best practice in business, we can inspire others to follow suit and together we can make a real difference’. (Paul Turner, Director of Community & Sustainable Business).
