Be a Hero for Elephants With the IFAW

Jun 24, 2011
The International Fund for Animal Welfare has started a petition urging governments across Europe to crack down on the international trade in ivory and do more to reduce poaching.

The International Fund for Animal Welfare wants governments to end demand for ivory in Europe and elsewhere to protect elephants from poaching.

"Elephants run when they’re scared and the only thing Amboseli elephants have to be scared of are poachers. Well-armed, well-organised gangs can easily shoot elephants from vehicles," explains IFAW researcher, Vicki Fishlock.

According to the IFAW more and more elephant habitats are becoming killing grounds with poachers shooting, poisoning and stabbing whole herds to death for their ivory.

IFAW says that one minute of your time signing their petition can help create a groundswell that can't be ignored.
