London mayor pledges to make London eco-friendly and efficient for the 2012 olympics and beyond

London Mayor Boris Johnson said today that the capital will see hundreds of green projects in time for the Olympics next year.

The London Eye has already gone green with a new LED lighting system.

 

 

Other initiatives will include low energy lighting for some of the city's famous landmarks and the re:leaf project, which is planting 10,000 new trees on the streets of London before 2012.

Mayor Boris Johnson has also pledged a fleet of electric and hybrid vehicles for the capital, including a hybrid London bus.
