UK Carbon Emissions are Moving in Wrong Direction says Greenpeace
UK government statistics released last week show greenhouse gas emissions rose by almost 3% last year.
Chief scientist for Greenpeace, Dr Doug Parr said: "Climate-changing pollution should be falling, not going up so what these figures show is that the UK is moving in the wrong direction. Politicians can’t blame it on the beginnings of the economic recovery because whilst the economy has grown slowly, carbon emissions have grown faster."

Greenhouse gas emissions including carbon dioxide went up by almost 3% last year
Energy secretary, Chris Huhne, said: "As we come out of recession, the coalition's determined to reduce our reliance on fossil fuels. That's why we are pushing on all fronts to turn around Britain's woeful record on renewables."
The emissions of the main greenhouse gases including carbon dioxide were up 2.8% on 2009.
