Dig for climate change with the carbon army

Feb 14, 2011

An environment conservation charity has teamed up with Climate Week to ask people across the UK to get out their spades and shovels and give food growing a go this spring.

During World War Two people were asked to ‘Dig for Victory’ now BTCV are asking people to dig and grow their own food for climate week (21-27th March).

BTCV's Carbon Army campaign offers groups and individuals help to turn their food growing ambitions into reality by joining an existing food growing project, setting up a new one or just growing what you can in your garden, planter or window box.

Tom Flood CBE, BTCV Chief Executive, said: “Even if you haven’t got much space, you can grow things like tomatoes and strawberries in baskets or herbs on your windowsill. And if you need a bit of help, BTCV’s food growing projects are a great way of getting started with plenty of support.”

You can get involved and sign up for the Carbon Army at www.btcv.org to get plenty of hints and tips  and send some free seeds to get you started!
