Go Green all this week

Feb 8, 2011
It's People and Planet's annual Go Green Week and this year it's got everything from carbon speed dating to a 'Cans Film Festival'

All this week People & Planet are holding a week of events to raise awareness of the simple yet important changes that we can all make to reduce our carbon footprint and tackle climate change.

UK Students are showcasing activities to promote sustainable living from veggie food feasts and grow your own workshops to Dr Bike clinics and swap shops.

To celebrate this year's theme, “Love your Future, Love your Climate” students will be getting steamy with Carbon Speed Dating events which put a fun twist on speed-dating to help people reduce their carbon footprints.

Universities are also holding Can Film Festivals which offer free films in exchange for bringing empty drinks cans for recycling.

“Go Green Week brings together people from all over the uni and by putting on events which are fun, accessible and rewarding we can reach out beyond the usual “eco”-suspects,” says Jesse Scharf from People and Planet at Roehampton University

Go Green Week is People & Planet’s annual national week of action on climate change in schools, colleges and universities. It wants to show the key role that education institutions can play in tackling climate change and challenging unsustainable behaviour patterns.
