Becoming a parent helps the environment

Jan 24, 2011
Survey shows community pressure, having children and buying a home are major factors that encourage people to help the environment

A new study shows that the birth of a first child makes new parents think seriously about protecting the environment.

The study conducted to celebrate the eco-friendly partnership between EDF energy and the London Eye also showed that pressure from loved ones can encourage people to go green.

It also found that nearly nine out of ten people recycle and eight in ten people re-use plastic bags as a way to save money and help the environment.

TV presenter Myleene Klass who is also Team Green Britain ambassador supports the EDF and London Eye campaign: "As well as protecting the environment, becoming greener in daily life can also help you save money too, which is good news for all mums and mums to be."
