Zero Carbon Britain by 2030 may become a reality

Following the zero Carbon Britain March on Saturday government advisors are proposing that we cut more than half of our emissions by 2030

 

Following the climate march on Parliament this Saturday the Committee on Climate Change have suggested that with the right approach we could cut 60% of carbon emissions by 2030.

For the proposed target to work we would need to make the electricity market carbon free and would need to replace petrol run cars with electric or hybrid alternatives.

Secretary of state for energy and climate change, Chris Huhne said: "We know that the status quo will not be enough to cut carbon, which is why we are planning to undertake a comprehensive review of the electricity market, increase home energy-efficiency and create a green investment bank. We will formally respond to the report in spring next year."
